I wonder if this picture is a selfie. Given the low angle, it's possible that Uncle put the camera on some kind of flat surface and posed to take this picture. It's possible; it need not be. Nevertheless I wish that were the case: a selfie which involved some effort to see the end result (unlike today's selfies.)
In later years, Uncle would be a doctor in France, eventually returning to India and spending time at Auroville before moving onto another ashram in Kerala.
That's in the future; for now this is a selfie; a shout out to those yet to come, this is us!
